How much space have you got to play with? And honestly, even though you knew the call was coming, you probably hadn’t given any of this a second thought. That’s completely normal. Most people haven’t.
But here’s where it gets good. Your stylist gently walked you through the entire process, sussing out your style and space without any pressure at all. Maybe you’d never really considered that family portraits could be anything more than a framed photo sitting on the mantelpiece. When they’re crafted as fine art photography, they become something that actually conveys a message. About your personality. Your people. The life you’ve built together.
Once you hung up, something shifted. You started wandering through your home with fresh eyes, noticing walls you’d walked past a thousand times without a thought. That blank stretch above the sofa. Once you’ve picked your spot, grab the tape measure. Getting the proportions right between your wall and your artwork makes all the difference. Too small and it looks lost. Too large and it overwhelms everything around it. Note down the dimensions and think about positioning. Will it hang centred above a piece of furniture, or does it deserve a wall entirely to itself?
Here’s a tip from us: snap a few photos of the space and jot down the measurements before you come in for your Verve experience. It gives our stylists so much more to work with when helping you figure out the perfect size and layout for your family portraits. A couple of minutes with your phone camera now saves a lot of guesswork later.
You might not think the colour of your walls matters all that much. It really does. If your space leans neutral (soft creams, greys, whites), then a portrait with a pop of colour can completely transform it. On the flip side, if your room is already packed with rich, vibrant tones, something more understated will let your artwork breathe rather than compete with everything else going on.

After your studio session, you’ll come back in at a time that works for you to view your images. This is the bit that gets people properly excited. It’s time to pick the photographs you love and decide how you’d like them presented.
