They promised they’d call. And they did.
A few days earlier, you’d booked in for a Verve experience, but that was about as far as your planning went. No clue what to expect. No homework done. So when the phone rang, it was equal parts exciting and slightly terrifying.
Your Verve stylist kicked things off with a few questions. What colours run through your home? What’s your decor like? Is there a wall somewhere that’s been quietly begging for attention? How much space have you got to play with? And honestly, even though you knew the call was coming, you probably hadn’t given any of this a second thought. That’s completely normal. Most people haven’t.
But here’s where it gets good. Your stylist gently walked you through the entire process, sussing out your style and space without any pressure at all. Maybe you’d never really considered that family portraits could be anything more than a framed photo sitting on the mantelpiece. When they’re crafted as fine art photography, they become something that actually conveys a message. About your personality. Your people. The life you’ve built together.
Once you hung up, something shifted. You started wandering through your home with fresh eyes, noticing walls you’d walked past a thousand times without a thought. That blank stretch above the sofa. The hallway that’s been bare since you moved in. The bedroom wall that never quite got sorted. Because here’s the thing (and it’s easy to overlook): cushions, rugs and lamps do a lovely job pulling a room together, but what you put on the walls is what genuinely changes how a space feels. The right piece of artwork brings warmth and movement, and life into a room. It shifts the whole energy of the place in ways you really wouldn’t expect until you see it for yourself.
The Verve Experience doesn’t stop once the lights go down. In fact, it’s just the beginning. It’s now time to turn your moments into memorable photographic artwork to adorn the walls of your home.
Think about what will actually look good in your home. Is it a cherished image of you and your partner, and will it sit perfectly in your bedroom? Or, is it photographic artwork that captures the true essence of your family and deserves pride of place in the living room? Take a look around your home and imagine where you’d like your artwork to reside.
Once you’ve picked your spot, grab the tape measure. Getting the proportions right between your wall and your artwork makes all the difference. Too small and it looks lost. Too large and it overwhelms everything around it. Note down the dimensions and think about positioning. Will it hang centred above a piece of furniture, or does it deserve a wall entirely to itself?
Here’s a tip from us: snap a few photos of the space and jot down the measurements before you come in for your Verve experience. It gives our stylists so much more to work with when helping you figure out the perfect size and layout for your family portraits. A couple of minutes with your phone camera now saves a lot of guesswork later.
You might not think the colour of your walls matters all that much. It really does. If your space leans neutral (soft creams, greys, whites), then a portrait with a pop of colour can completely transform it. On the flip side, if your room is already packed with rich, vibrant tones, something more understated will let your artwork breathe rather than compete with everything else going on.
And there’s no need to stress about getting this right on your own. Your Verve stylist will walk you through all of it so your family portraits sit beautifully in the room. That’s one of their favourite parts of their job.
After your studio session, you’ll come back in at a time that works for you to view your images. This is the bit that gets people properly excited. It’s time to pick the photographs you love and decide how you’d like them presented.
Think about what reflects you. Maybe it’s the relaxed, statement-making feel of a large canvas. Or perhaps you’re drawn to something more timeless, like one of our Classic frames. Love clean, contemporary lines? The Verve Arctic Block works brilliantly in smaller spaces, styled on a side table alongside your other treasured bits and pieces. And if blending traditional with modern appeals to you, our Manhattan range might be exactly the thing.
You’re welcome to browse the full artwork collection on the website before you visit, just to get a feel for what catches your eye. But there’s no pressure to decide beforehand. The Verve team will talk you through every option and help you land on the perfect choice for your home and your family portraits.
Verve is so much more than a photography studio. It’s built around capturing who you really are (the connections, the personalities, the moments worth holding onto) and turning all of that into something you’ll treasure on your walls for years. We love what we do. And we know there’s no better way to celebrate your family than with a beautifully crafted piece of fine art from Verve Portraits.
